The street was eventually paved with bricks and a trolley terminated just before the Rosehill Cemetery East Gate. As a side note, one-time general manager Bob Jones opened up Fireside Restaurant in Beverly on the South Side in 1996, which has since closed. The place was once again sold in 1983 to Maggie Harper and then to Larry Staggs and Rich Wohn in 1989, who added the beer garden and expanded the food & drinks menu. Peter Eberhardt sold his business in 1943 to the McLaughlin family, who then sold it until 1971 to Joe Linoinni. The original wooden siding has been stuccoed over in the English Tudor style and the space between has been transformed into the pub’s entrance. What is now a single structure was originally built as twin buildings with a breezeway in-between. According to the Edgewater Historical Society, the Fireside has continuously operated as a tavern since 1904 and was built by the original owner, Peter Eberhardt. Fireside also serves an impressive selection of brew and a Bloody Mary bar for brunch on weekends, and is one of the few taverns in the area with a late-night license and a kitchen open until just before close. Today, the off-the-beaten-path Fireside serves a long and Cajun-accented menu, highlighted by ribs and pizza, within the friendly confines of their spacious outdoor beer garden and by the actual fireside in the dining room. The original tavern once served traveling farmers and mourners alike, even offering accommodations. With the support and help of his family, Tom has expanded the business to include a new moderately priced Restaurant and Pub, still maintaining the family neighborhood atmosphere. In 1973, the third generation entered the business, under the management of Tom Swerchesky. With father and son working together, the Fireside continued to be a friendly neighborhood spot to gather and socialize. For many years this neighborhood tavern and clam stand was a favorite spot to catch up on world affairs and local gossip.Ī few years later, Joseph and Julia Swerchesky bought out the Robinson partnership and the Fireside truly became a family business. On May 3, 1956, Stanley and Mary Swerchesky, in partnership with Paul and Norma Robinson, purchased the original Fireside Restaurant. Settling in Pelham, New Hampshire, they purchased a small dairy farm, where they worked long and hard for many years. In 1915, the Swercheskys, like so many other European families, left their native homeland to travel to America. ![]()

"Rock Around With Ollie Vee," "Blue Days, Black Nights," "Ting-A-Ling," "I'm Changing All Those Changes," "Modern Don Juan," "Love Me," "Don't Come Back Knockin'," and "Midnight Shift" are all decent, solid early rock & roll he sounds too countrified by about half on much of the record, especially on the early version of "That'll Be the Day," but these were not bad records, even if they weren't going to break his talent out to a mass audience. In actual fact, at least ten of the 11 songs on this LP (the one exception being the ballad "Girl on My Mind") have aged almost as well as anything that Holly ever recorded. "Love Me" was included, along with other songs from the Nashville recordings on the album That'll Be The Day, released in April 1958.The tendency of most critics is to dismiss this album, comprised as it is of the songs from Holly's 1956 Nashville sessions, which yielded a somewhat too tentative, country-oriented sound that suited neither him nor the public. "Love Me" was re-released on January 7, 1958, this time backed by "You Are My One Desire", which again failed to chart. ![]() The single was followed by "Modern Don Juan" b/w "You Are My One Desire" on December 24, 1956.ĭespite Holly's shortcomings at Decca, the label capitalized on the musician after he found success with the Crickets and later as a solo artist in 1957. ![]() The record received a B+ review in Cashbox magazine. Due to an inadvertent misspelling on Holly's recording contract, his name was changed from Holley to Holly. The single was released on April 16, 1956, on Decca Records, as a 7" and 10" single. The band was supplemented by session musicians Doug Kirkham and Grady Martin. Recording took place between 7 and 10 PM on January 26, 1956. The group recorded "Love Me", written by Holly and Sue Parrish, a Lubbock native, "Don't Come Back Knockin'", "Blue Days - Black Nights", written by Ben Hall, another Lubbock native, and "Midnight Shift". Holly assembled a new band to record at Bradley's Barn, consisting of Sonny Curtis on guitar and Don Guess on bass. Montgomery was rejected by Decca because his voice was deemed "too country", and Welborn was unable to travel due to school. Note that to get to Greater essences, you need at least 11 levels in warlock. ![]() Hindering blast is a will save vs the slow spell basically. Incarnum Blast is nice because if any part of an enemy's alignment is opposed to yours, it must make a fort save or be dazed for a round. Noxious Blast is a fort save or be nauseated for 1 minute, which means the affected opponent can only make a single move action each round. Greater essences actually have stuff worthwhile. None of the other essences are worthwhile for debuffing unless you absolutely need Beshadowed Blast to blind stuff for a rogue to SA it and even then there are much better ways for the rogue to get SA damage than requiring you to spend an invocation on it when you could have gotten 24 hour flight instead. Those are the only two Least essences you could use for debuffing.įor Lesser essences there's Deteriorating Blast which lowers all forms of DR on the enemy by 5, but it's a fort save which has already been noted as typically being good for monsters.
